The Iranian Neurological Association is a professional society of academic neurologists devoted to advancing the goals of academic neurology, educating and training neurologists in the field of neurological sciences. Iranian centers for neurological research, attempt to improve the health indicators, with the production of science and technology in the field of prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of neurological diseases. The Iranian Neurological Association is currently a member of the World Federation of Neurology (WFN), and the International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology (IFCN).The first Iranian Neurological Association founded in 1991 by efforts of Professor Jalal Barimani. This association had obtained permission for scientific activities from the Ministry of Interior. Since it did not have certification from the Ministry of Health and Education, it faced some problems in order to interact with the universities and receive authorization for holding scientific conferences. However, in 2003, after completing the legal process and receiving the necessary permissions, the first election of Iranian Neurological Association was held under the supervision of a representative of the election from the Ministry of Health and Education.
